History of the Club

Lanarkshire Deaf Football Club was re-formed in May 2003 after 7 years in the wilderness and in 2003-2004 season, we did very well in the Deaf league, Scottish Edwards Cup, BCSC Cup and Plate Cup. The first season we returned we were very successful in terms of organisation & our number of players grew substantially.

HISTORY

Lanarkshire Deaf Football Club was formed in 1929 using the name Hamilton Deaf Football Club. We have entered in the Scottish Edwards Cup every year since 1929 but didn't win the cup until 1951. We won again in 1957,1958,1959 & 1980. We lost in the final of BDSC cup against Mary Hare in 1982. In 1991, the club changed its name to Lanarkshire Deaf Football Club and had a successful 5 years in which the team won the Scottish Edwards Cup 3 times 1993, 1994 and 1995. We also won the BDSC cup 3 times 1992, 1994 and 1996. Sadly in May 1996, the club folded and all the players moved to different clubs such as St Vincent DFC & Glasgow ADFC.
